CHARGES FOR CRANES AND FORK LIFT TRUCKS

SCALE    A  -  GENERAL

The Scale of  charges shall be as under:-

The charges specified under the sliding scale above shall be subject to a minimum of Rs.54/- per consignment.

CHARGES AGAINST MASTERS, OWNERS OR AGENTS OF VESSELS OR IMPORTERS OR SHIPPERS FOR THE USE
OF THE BOARD'S 30 TONNE MOBILE CRANE, 50 TONNE CRANE AND 120 TONNE FLOATING CRANE

With respect to F.C. Vaigai, Charges will be levied as follows :  

Note :

(i)          Except when hired for delivery, a minimum charge of Rs.3096/- per requisition will be levied for the use of each crane.

(ii)         When the crane is requisitioned but not utilised, a charge of Rs.3096/-  will be levied, unless 4 hours clear notice is given during the Board’s ordinary working hours cancelling the requisition.

(iii)        A Charge of Rs.774/- per hour or part thereof will be levied for detention, if crane is kept idle, owing to the lift or lifts not being ready for slinging  and such detention will count, till the lift is handled.  In order to cover trivial delays in making  ready lifts, 15 minutes grace will be allowed for handling up to three heavy lifts consecutively and thereafter for every additional lift 5 minutes grace time will be allowed for delay in each such lift.

(iv)        Only one lift at a time shall be slung for discharge or loading; but when two or more lifts made up into one sling are discharged or loaded by the crane, then the cranage charges are recoverable at the rate applicable to the total weight of such lift and in addition, a penalty of Rs.774/-  for each such violation shall also be levied.

(vii)       For working the 120 Tonne Floating Crane ‘Vaigai’ during the third shift on any working day and during any shift on a Sunday or a Board’s Holiday a fee of Rs.6329.30 per shift or part thereof shall be levied.  This fee will be in addition to the cranage charges as per Scale – C above/charges as per Scale-D (Category – I) of Chapter – IX as well as Night and Holiday Charges if it is a Board’s closed Holiday under Chapter VI of Scale of Rates.

CONDITIONS :    

            Loads heavier than the marked lifting capacity shall not be put on the equipment hired out or on the auxillary hooks provided to the equipment.  An additional charge at twice the crane hire charge leviable at the rates specified on the package involved duly rounding off the amount to the next hundred subject to a minimum of Rs.4,200/-  shall be imposed for every such violation of this condition on the hirers at the discretion of the Traffic Manager.
