Sub: Procedure for export of goods from Chennai Port through
Tuticorin /JNPT/Kochi Port - Reg.

Kind attention of the Trading Public /CHAs /Exporters is invited to this Custom House Public Notices No.88/2001 and 90/2001. In addition to the facilities already extended, to enable the movement of cargo in view of the on going strike of Chennai Port Trust, the following facilities are extended:
1. Movement of Containers to JNPT & Kochi:
In addition to the movement of containers to the Tuticorin Port, it has been decided to permit the movement of export cargo to JNPT, Kochi or any other Port as required by the trade.
2. Movement of Containers stuffed with export
cargo of several exporters:
The containers stuffed with export cargo of more than one exporter lying in various CFSs can also be moved to Tuticorin /JNPT /Kochi Ports by Road/ By Rail at the request of Steamer Agents/CFSs. The Preventive Officers posted at the CFSs will verify the "Let Export Order" of Chennai Custom Officers and allow shipment of the export cargo on the transference / Xerox Copy of the shipping bills. He will also indicate the container no. and seal no. in each and every shipping bill. He will also make an endorsement on all the shipping bills: "Permitted to transport the container to Tuticorin/JNPT/Kochi Ports".
3. Movement of Cargo received from ICD, Bangalore:
Export Containers received from ICD, Bangalore, will be allowed to be moved to Tuticorin/JNPT/Kochi Ports on written request by Steamer Agents/CFSs. In such cases, the DC (Docks/CFS) will give the permission and the Appraiser will make an endorsement on the shipping bills to the effect that the container was allowed to be moved to Tuticorin/JNPT/Kochi Ports. The Custom Officer in the respective port will verify the seal and allow export after following usual procedures. Based on this endorsement, the exporter/CHA can get the shipping bills amended (Port of Loading) at ICD, Bangalore.
The facilities are being extended upto 31.5.2001 or till the situation at Chennai Port improves whichever is earlier.
