The Customs and Central Excise Settlement Commission, hereinafter referred to as the Commission, has been constituted by the Government of India following legislative amendment through Finance Act, 1998. Chapter V of the Central Excise Act, 1944 and Chapter XIV A of the Customs Act 1962 deal with the provisions relating to the Commission.
