‘E-AUCTION’ BY CHENNAI CUSTOMS

Chennai Customs has launched
internet auction cum tender of confiscated goods and uncleared cargo on 08-12-2003.

20 e-auctions have been
conducted and goods worth more than 7 crores have been disposed upto June 2004.
-
‘E-auction’ will be conducted
from 1st to 15th of every month.
-
A wide variety of goods worth
crores of rupees will be put in the e-auction every month.

List of lots available on
‘e-auction’ will be published in the website alongwith details of location on
22nd/23rd of every month..
-
Physical inspection of lots
available on ‘e-auction’ is in the last week of every month i.e., from 23rd/24th
to the end of the month.

to participate in e-auction

Procedures for Internet
auction cum tender and application for registration can be downloaded from this
website.

The filled-in application form
along with two stamp size photographs and a DD for Rs.5000/- (Rupees five
thousand only) in favour of the Commissioner of Customs – Auction a/c payable
at Chennai should be sent to the Superintendent of Customs, Internet Auction
Unit, Ground Floor, Custom House, No.60 Rajaji Salai, Chennai – 600 001.

Immediately on receipt of the
application user ID and password will be communicated which will enable the on
line bidders to sign in and participate in the bidding on our e-auction. An
identity card also will be provided which will enable the on line bidders to
participate in the physical auctions too.

Registrations can be withdrawn
any time and on surrender of the identity cards a refund of Rs.4900/- + interest applicable to SB accounts will be
made.

Registration of on line
bidders is currently underway.

Registration is open on all
working days including the days of inspection and days of ‘e-auction’.

In addition to the facilities
of auto bidding and e-tender the
facility of physical tender is also available.

Registration will entitle
you to participate in all future Chennai Custom House Auctions – both Physical
and Internet.
