Government
of India, Ministry of Labour, Office of the Welfare Organisation, Labour
Welfare Organisation, No,75, Basaveswara (Millers) Road, Bangalore-560 052,
have issued a letter for revision of Cess on Chrome Ore under the above Act, vide F.No.10(1)/17/81/90-91/9053 dated 11.12.2001 is reproduced below for the
guidance of Importers/ Exporters/Clearing Agent and Trading Public.

Delhi, the 11TH September,
2001
G.S.R.655(E) – In exercise of the
powers conferred by Section 3 of the Iron Ore Mines, Manganese Ore Mines and
Chrome Ore Mines Labour Welfare Cess Act, 1976 (55 of 1976) and in supersession
of the Notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour,
No.G.S.R.682(E) dated the 1st August, 1990, except as respect things
done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government
hereby fixes the rate of rupees six per metric tonne as the rate at which the
duty of excise and duty of customs on all chrome ore produced in any mine for
the purpose of the said Act, shall be levied and collected as cess with effect
from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
