PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 9 /2001

 

 

Sub:  Appoint of Custodian of Imported goods under Sec. 45 [1] of Customs Act, 1962 [52 of 1962] – Regarding.

                                                               *****

 

            In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 45[1] of the Customs Act, 1962 [52 of 1962], I M.V.S. PRASAD, COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS, CUSTOM HOUSE, CHENNAI, hereby appoint M/s. CONTINENTAL WAREHOUSING CORPORATION LIMITED, REDHILLS, CHENNAI” as the “CUSTODIAN” of imported goods landed at Chennai Port and received in their CFS at REDHILLS, CHENNAI, in containers, until the goods are cleared for home consumption or warehoused or are transshipped in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VII of the Act, ibid.

 

Similarly M.s. CONTINENTAL WAREHOUSING CORPORATION LIMITED., will also be the “Custodian” of cargo brought in their premises for export, till they are exported.

 

            M/s. CONTINENTAL WAREHOUSING CORPORATION LIMITED, a C.F.S., as the “Custodian” of the goods meant for export and imported goods, would be required to comply with the provisions of Section 45 [2] of the Customs Act, 1962, as well as rules and regulations and instructions issued from time to time on the above subject.

 

            The “Custodian” shall insure all the goods under their custody.

 

            This appointment shall initially remain for 5 [five] years and subject to review after every 5 years thereafter.  Commissioner of Customs shall have the right to terminate the appointment at any time after assigning specific reasons and giving an opportunity to the Custodian to explain his case.

 

            This Public Notice shall come into effect from the   29th day of  January, 2001.
