            Sub:  Interest on warehoused goods to be paid after expiry of 30 days w.e.f.           01.06.2001.

            The attention of the Trading Public and CHA is drawn to Notification No.23/01-Cus (NT) dated 22.05.2001.

 

            Section 61 Sub-section(2) Clause (ii) of the Customs Act has been amended by the Finance Act 2001.  The effect the amendment is that interest is chargeable on goods warehoused on or after 1^st June 2001 if they remain in the warehouse beyond a period of 30 days.
