In
exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 & 11.1 of the Export
and Import Policy, 1997-2002, (incorporating amendments made upto 31.03.2001),
the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby lays down following procedures for
export of ‘certified organic products’:-
An agricultural product will be allowed to be
exported as “Organic Product” only
if it is produced, processed or packed under a valid Organic Certificate issued
by a certifying agency duly accredited by one of the following Accreditation
Agencies:
(i)
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export
Development Authority (APEDA)
(ii)
Coffee Board
(iii)
Spices Board
(iv)
Tea Board

This will be effective from 1st July,
2001.
