PUBLIC NOTICE NO.    262    /2001

(MODIFICATION TO P.N. NO.261 & 262/87)

 

Sub: Declaration of M/s. Central Warehousing Corporation, Royapuram, Chennai –13, as CFS for handling LCL Export cargo – Procedure to be followed – Instructions – regarding.

            Attention of the Steamer Agents, Importers, Exporters and their representatives [Custom House Agents] is invited to this Custom House Public Notice No.261 & 262/87 declaring M/s. Central Warehousing Corporation, situated at No.21, Shaik Maistry Street, Royapuram, Chennai – 600 013 as ‘CUSTOMS AREA’ for handling   Export FCL cargo.

 

2.         In exercise of the powers conferred under section 8(b) of the Customs Act, 1962, the godown II A having a total area of 677.2 Sq.m. (which includes a cabin for Customs measuring 18.58 Sq. m.)  is declared as “CUSTOMS AREA” for the purpose of handling  Export LCL cargo.

 

3.         With the introduction of handling Export LCL cargo at CWC, Royapuram, the revised arrangements for operation in CWC, Royapuram is as under:

For handling FCL Exports:

a. Godown I A              177 Sq. mtrs.

b. Godown I B             177 Sq. mtrs.

c. Godown I C             238 Sq. mtrs.

d. Godown I D             238 Sq. mtrs.

e. Godown II B 677.2 Sq. mtrs.

f. Godown II C 677.2 Sq. mtrs.

For handling LCL Exports:

Godown II A             677.2 Sq. mtrs (in which a cabin measuring 18.58 Sq. mtrs. – for Customs staff)

 

4.         The following procedures are to be followed while handling Export LCL cargo:

 

a.      Export LCL cargo should be stuffed in containers destined to a single port in the presence of the Preventive Officer posted at the CFS (CWC), after due examination of the cargo by the Examiner and after ‘Let Export’ order is given by the Appraiser.  The cargo may however be of different exporters and different consignees.  A tally should be kept by the Cargo in-charge officer of the CFS (CWC), as well as by the Customs Preventive Officer, container-wise indicating the no. of packages with details of respective Shipping Bill No. description, marks & nos. so stuffed in each container.

b.      If the exporter desires to destuff the cargo before despatch of the container from CFS (CWC) to Harbour, the same may be permitted after getting necessary shutout permission from D.C. / A.C. (Docks) and after carrying out the shutout order by the Examiner and Appraiser.  The destuffing should be made in the presence of Preventive Officer and the cargo in-charge of CWC, after making necessary entries of such shutout cargo in the relevant registers of CFS (CWC) and Customs.

c.      Export LCL cargo should be kept in the godown allotted for the operation and should not be mixed up with other FCL cargo.

 

The above procedure comes into effect from 01.11.2001 and shall remain in force until further orders.
