Port congestion – Movement of import containers from Container Terminal Yard to
various CFSs – regarding.

Kind attention is
invited to Public Notice No.348 & 358/2001 on the above subject. In order to decongest the Container Terminal
Yard at Chennai Port area and in view of the joint request made by M/s. Chennai
Container Terminal Ltd. (CCTL) and Chennai Steamer Agents’ Association, it has
been decided to allow the movement of bulk Import containers by the Steamer
Agents on the basis of a single PNR document.
The containers should be shipped under one vessel / IGM and should be
moved to one CFS. The Steamer Agents
should file a consolidated PNR application Liner wise / CFS wise for the
movement of containers to the D.C.(Docks).
All other instructions contained under P.N.
No.19/98 and other existing instructions related to the movement of containers
from Gateway Ports to off-Dock CFSs should be followed strictly.
The
subject procedure will be effective upto 10.01.2002.
M/s. CCTL
and the Steamer Agents shall ensure that the containers lying in the Container
Yard are moved by giving priority to containers on which duty is paid and
containers which are lying in the Container Yard for longer duration. Further, this facility shall be used
effectively to minimise the congestion in the Port area by 10.01.2002.
This
facility is in addition to the normal procedure of PNR movement of containers.
